Dr. John A. Gonzalez has become one of the leading female medicine specialists in the Southwest Louisiana area. He is a licensed surgeon and has performed thousands of surgeries. He is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. At the urging of many of Dr. Gonzalez’s patients, he began training in cosmetic surgery and now has an extremely busy cosmetic and gynecologic practice. He has received training from some of the pioneers of cosmetic surgery under tumescent or local anesthesia. Dr. Gonzalez is one of the first doctors in the Acadiana area to perform liposuction, abdominoplasty and breast augmentation completely under local anesthesia in the office. Dr. Gonzalez is the only full time board certified Urogynecologist in the Acadiana area.Dr. John Gonzalez received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at the Orlando Regional Healthcare System in Orlando, Florida where he was Chief Resident. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Gonzalez resides in the Crowley area with his wife and two children. His focus is on providing the highest quality of care to his patients in a compassionate and trustworthy manner. He is absolutely thrilled to be part of the Acadiana family.
Dr. Michelle Owens is Board Certified in Gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Starting in 2014, Dr. Owens began training in facial cosmetic procedures including facial fat transfer and facial and neck rejuvenation with Thermitight. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. She has been in private practice in Crowley, Louisiana since 1999. She received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Owens was chosen to serve as Chief Resident of the Gynecology department from 1998-1999. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a Diplomat of the Board of Gynecology.Dr. Owens prides herself on taking the time to get to know her patients and thoroughly addressing their needs and concerns. She understands that choosing a healthcare provider is one of the most important decisions one can make. Not only is she knowledgeable, caring and accessible, she is willing to take the time to go over all options and treat each individual as a person, not just a patient. Her special interests are in laparoscopic, pelvic floor reconstruction and incontinence surgery, as well as helping her patients improve their appearance with the use of Botox and dermal fillers.
Providing surgical cures for gynecologic conditions has been one of Dr. Owens proficiencies. Most patients want minimal scars and minimal down time. Therefore, Dr. Owens always attempts to perform surgeries in the most benign fashion possible. She is one of the first gynecologists in Crowley to focus on minimally invasive procedures both in the hospital and office. She routinely performs endometrial ablations and permanent birth control under local anesthesia in the office as well as robotic laparoscopic hysterectomies as an outpatient surgery.Dr. Owens makes her home in Crowley with her husband and two children. Not only does she enjoy spending time with her family and traveling, she also enjoys establishing a continuum of care with her patients and building lifelong relationships with them and their families. She is proud to be a part of making a difference in her community.
Candice Myers started out as an RN in labor and delivery and fell in love with taking care of women during one of their most joyful times in life. That love for labor and delivery progressed to a desire to care for women throughout their lifespan. She specializes in health maintenance, as well as in treating common gynecological problems, some of which include irregular bleeding, contraceptive management, pelvic pain, and cervical dysplasia.Candice attended nursing school at University of Louisiana, and graduated with a bachelor degree in nursing in 2010. While working full-time in labor and delivery she attended the University of South Alabama. She graduated in 2014 with a Master’s Degree in nursing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She is certified with the National Certification Corporation and a member of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health.
Candice lives in Youngsville with her husband and 3 young children. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as building trusting relationships with her patients. She is so excited to be part of the Acadia Women’s Health team.
Nicole Dempsey became an RN in 2009 after graduating with her Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing from Barry University in Miami, Florida. Nicole has spent most of her nursing career in the emergency department. This is where she enjoyed caring for patients throughout their lifespan and educating them on health promotion and prevention. Nicole enjoyed educating her patient’s and helping them take an active role in their health, which is why she decided to advance her degree to obtain a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Louisiana. Nicole graduated in 2017 as a family nurse practitioner, and is certified with, and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, as well as a member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Nicole grew up in south Florida and moved to Lafayette, LA in 2014. She quickly fell in love with the culture of Acadiana and is happy to now call Louisiana home. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and attending all the festivals Louisiana has to offer. Nicole is very excited to belong to the Acadia Women’s Health family and passionate about helping her patients achieve their optimal health!
Mrs. Dugas is our medical aesthetician at Acadia Women's Health, with over 11 years of experience in the medical field. Mrs. Dugas received her skincare specialist license and board certification in 2009 and has advanced certification skills in the medical skincare field. Prior to joining Acadia Women's Health, she worked as an aesthetician at medical spas in Lafayette, LA. During this time, she advanced her skills and abilities by receiving certifications in a number of procedures such as laser skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal, photofacial, microneedling, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, chemical peels and HydrafacialMD. Mrs. Dugas frequently attends skincare training courses to stay up-to-date on new and improved procedures and treatments.
