Pelvic Pain

Many patients come into our office experiencing pelvic pain. Pelvic pain is felt from the belly button level and below.

General causes for pelvic pain are as follows:

● Urologic Diseases - is the very common root of pelvic pain among women as a result of urinary tract infections, bladder control problems, kidney stones, among others. This can be short-term, while others endure it for a long time.

● Vulvodynia - is a chronic pain around the vulva. The pain varies but women usually felt a burning sensation which makes it difficult to stay seated for long periods and awful sharp pain during sexual intercourse.

● Endometriosis - this is often experienced by women under 30 years old. We begin to feel menstrual cramps a day or two before our period. Just like Vulvodynia, pain in the course of intimacy is common as well as pain with urination and bowel movements.

● Ovarian Cysts - majority of women have ovarian cysts which can kick in if you have endometriosis. Cells develop outside our uterus forming some tissues that attach to our ovary and grow from there. Pregnancy also contributes to the formation of cysts when were lease eggs (ovulate) from the ovary but stays there the whole time during pregnancy. So is hormonal change as it disturbs the body’s stress hormone in the time of puberty, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.
