Dr. John Gonzalez

I’m Dr. John Gonzalez, a urogynecologist and cosmetic surgeon at Acadia Women’s Health in Crowley, Louisiana. I’m a licensed surgeon, board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, and I’ve spent more than 25 years caring for the women of Acadiana. Over that time I’ve performed thousands of surgeries, and I’ve completed the MIGS exam recognizing advanced expertise in minimally invasive gynecologic techniques, earned through both formal training and years of hands-on clinical work.

When Dr. Michelle Owens and I opened our practice in 1999, what thrilled us most was the chance to walk with women through one of the most precious moments of their lives: childbirth. But after about seven years, we kept noticing the same quiet thing. Women who had given everything to their families weren’t happy with how they looked afterward, and they wanted to feel like themselves again. We decided we didn’t want our care to end when the baby arrived. We wanted to keep helping our patients long after.

So in 2006, at the urging of many of those patients, I began training in cosmetic surgery. I learned from some of the pioneers of the field, surgeons who were performing procedures under tumescent, or local, anesthesia, and I brought that approach home. I became one of the first physicians in the Acadiana area to perform liposuction, abdominoplasty, and breast augmentation completely under local anesthesia, right in our office. Today I run a busy cosmetic and gynecologic practice, our team has performed more than 5,000 cosmetic procedures in our surgical suites, and I remain the only full-time board-certified urogynecologist in the Acadiana area.

What I think sets me apart is honesty about outcomes. I take real time to prepare each patient for what to expect after surgery, because confidence comes from understanding, not surprises. That belief is exactly why I wrote my book, “Do I Look Great In These Jeans?”, an insider’s guide to cosmetic surgery meant to answer the questions patients are often nervous to ask. The safety and satisfaction of every person who comes into my office is my highest priority, and seeing a patient’s face light up when they see their results is what keeps me motivated every single day.

Away from the office, my life is rooted right here. When my wife Leonor and I moved to Crowley, we welcomed our son David, and two years later our daughter Catherine. I love spending time with my family and traveling, and I’ve come to believe that living in a small town has made me not only a better person but a more patient-focused physician. My goal is simple: to provide the highest quality of care in a compassionate, trustworthy way. I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of Acadiana, and I’d love to welcome you into the Acadia Women’s Health family.
