Kybella Double Chin Treatment

Excess submental fat, also referred to as a double chin, is a problem faced by both men and women. Unfortunately, diet and exercise will do little to improve the shape and tone of this stubborn area under the chin. While submental fat can result from weight fluctuations and changes in skin elasticity(due to aging and sun damage), it is most often genetics that will determine who develops a double chin.

While fullness under the jawline is common, it is actually the most under-treated area of the face. And, until recently, liposuction was the only option to improve the look of a double chin.

Today, however, patients have an exciting new choice: Kybella®. The cutting-edge, noninvasive treatment is uniquely designed to eliminate a double chin without unwanted surgery. A series of short Kybella® injections can be applied, beautifully revealing a sculpted jawline, without the stress of an invasive procedure.

When compared to the more traditional treatments available for the reduction of submental fat, such as liposuction, Kybella® offers a quick, non-invasive treatment with very little risk of complications.

How It Works
When it is injected into submental tissue, it breaks down the walls of the fat cells. Then, as the body metabolizes the damaged fat cells, the chin becomes sculpted and tight.

It is created from deoxycholic acid, an organic chemical. (Deoxycholic acid is found naturally in human body, used to assist in the absorption of unwanted fats.)

• Acadia Women’s Health tailors every Kybella® procedure to meet each individual patient’s aesthetic needs. (The severity of submental fat will determine the extent of correction required to obtain desired results.)
• Between three and six sessions are required for optimal results for most patients.

• Many patients experience swelling and bruising after their procedure that generally lasts for a few days up to a week after.
To minimize the swelling, Kybella® our providers recommend that you avoid alcohol and salt for a few days before the treatment and after in addition to staying hydrated.
• Optimal results will usually be visible around 6 weeks. You will typically have a follow-up visit around that time, and your Kybella® provider will determine if you need another treatment.
