Contraception- Today women face many options for contraception. The doctors at Acadia Women’s Health can assist you in making this decision & finding out which option is best for you.

Prevention & wellness- Many patients only see a doctor when they are ill or not feeling well. At our office, we emphasize preventive medicine to help patients live longer & be healthier.

Urinary incontinence - Many women suffer from uncontrollable bladder leakage. It is estimated that 25% of all women over forty have urinary incontinence. There are many treatments available for this condition, including medication, behavioral modification, exercises and surgery. If surgery is required it can usually be accomplished as an outpatient surgery with minimal recovery time needed.

Endometrial Ablation - This is a treatment option for excessive menstrual bleeding and can reduce or eliminate menstrual flow. It is an office procedure that is done under local anesthesia without having to go to the hospital.

Menopause and hormones - Menopause is a natural part of the aging process and can cause serious quality of life issues. At Acadia Women’s Health, we offer both hormonal and non-hormonal treatments for this condition.

Laparoscopy - Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed by inserting a camera through the navel to illuminate the abdomen. Some of the things that can be done with laparoscopy are; perform a hysterectomy or tubal ligation (“tie tubes”), remove ovarian cysts, take down scar tissue and diagnose causes of pelvic pain. This procedure is typically performed as an outpatient allowing the patient a quicker recovery.

Hysterectomy - Hysterectomy is a major surgery removing the uterus and depending on the reason for surgery possibly removing the fallopian tubes and ovaries. A hysterectomy may be done for numerous reasons. The most common reasons to perform a hysterectomy are heavy vaginal bleeding, fibroid uterus, endometriosis, and pelvic pain. There are many ways to have a hysterectomy including vaginal, laparoscopic or abdominal. The doctors at Acadia Women’s Health will choose the least invasive procedure for you and your condition.
